This time last year I was travelling around Spain, Portugal and England with family and friends. I cannot help but think how important that trip was for me on SO many levels. I recently spoke to my friend Thomas from Tzuls Conquers the World, who shares the same views on travels, and agrees how great it is to see new and exciting places for your self-growth and development. In this blog post, I will share the ways that travel has helped me become the person I am today. Thomas will also be sharing his travel story (which you will definitely want to read) so click here to see what he has to say!
I have been lucky to see many beautiful countries around the world, but my most recent trip abroad was probably the most instrumental. It came at a time in my life when I was feeling a bit down, and just needed to getaway and experience new scenery.
For me, the idea of travelling without my family for two whole weeks was a little crazy, as anyone who knows me well knows that I am such a family person! Even the idea of flying solo from Melbourne to Barcelona was quite intimidating, but in the end it was absolutely fine! In fact, once I arrived, I spent two weeks with the most amazing friends, and it really was such a blast travelling around Spain and Portugal! I then met up with my mum at London Heathrow (airport), where we then ventured off to Birmingham, and then back to London. It was the trip of a lifetime!
Approaching the trip, my life lacked order and direction. Yet after being overseas for a whole month, my mindset changed and I was so much happier, and at ease. It was so relaxing having no obligations but to just explore the countries and cities that I visited. I returned to Melbourne with my confidence back, and just so so inspired! I mean who would not feel inspired spending summer in Spain, Portugal and England?!
As you will see from reading both mine and Thomas’ stories, travel is the key to everything. It is such a pivotal part of growing up and becoming independent. We believe that travel is important because…
- You can experience different cultures, ways of life, religions, foods and histories
- You are forced to get out of your comfort zone
- It is a great way to clear your mind and start fresh
- You learn about and understand new currencies
- It is great for leisure, for adventures, meeting new people, and most of all to RELAX #treatyoself
So there you have it! Travel is so much more than just hopping on a plane, it can truly change you for the better, in so many ways!
Why do you like travelling? Was there a particular travel experience that shaped who you are today? Leave a comment below as we would love to hear from you!
