Over the past year, I have become more and more obsessed with makeup. I recently visited the Mecca Maxima pop-up store at Chadstone, and bought some must-have products. Here are what I like to call, the essentials.
- Josie Maran “Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil”
I have never been a powder girl when it comes to highlighters, but I thought that I should give this one a shot!
After testing this product out, I can tell you that I’ll be sticking with powdered highlighters from now on. I especially love the light glow it adds to my makeup look.
- Urban Decay “24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil” in Naked 2
I was looking for a lip pencil that would go with the majority of my nude shaded lipsticks.
The formula for this lip-liner is long lasting, but also drying. I would recommend pairing it with a hydrating lip-gloss or lipstick.
- Too Faced “Better than Sex”
I really needed a new mascara, and I have heard many positive reviews regarding “Better than Sex”.
With only one coat, my eyelashes are already looking thick and bold, almost as though I have extensions in!
- Mecca Cosmetica “Illuminating Primer”
‘Not to prime is a crime’ (Napoleon Perdis), right?
I have been testing out different primers over the past two years. So far I have tried a colour correcting one from Stila and one from Smashbox. I liked the idea of an illuminating primer, which adds a glow to my skin, but feel as though it is too thin, and lacks the hydrating properties that I am looking for.
- Yves Saint Laurent “Touche Éclat Radiant Touch” in 5
After months of borrowing the “Touche Éclat” from Mum, I can finally say that I own one of these myself.
This product works miracles in reducing any signs of tiredness, and also works well in concealing any redness or blemishes.
- Too Faced “La Crème” in Sugar Daddy
I decided that it was time to find a lipstick that I could wear in everyday situations – but also formally if I needed to.
While the name made me giggle, the product itself should be taken seriously. The verdict? It is a must-have!
- KIT: “Blender Sphere”
I really believe that blending spheres are one of the best tools for applying makeup, especially foundation. They are so easy to use, and can really make a big difference.
- Mario Badescu “Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater”
Everyone talks about this facial spray – EVERYONE!
For $10 I was willing to give it a go, and I have now used it everyday since. Whether I am wearing makeup or not, a few sprays of this product leaves my skin and hair feeling refreshed – not to mention the floral scent that it leaves behind.
There you have it, my eight essential makeup products. What are your go-to beauty supplies? Leave a comment below, and I might just feature it in my next haul.
